Freework Sessions

Bespoke services for you and your dog.

There is a revolution in the way we understand our dogs and I’m so proud to be spreading the word for dogs and their guardians all over the world.

Scientific research and some of the best canine professionals in the world have realised that giving dogs a choice in their ‘training’ creates a much happier dog and happier caregiver.

These sessions follow the teachings of Animal Centred Education and practice freework sessions. I have recently returned from a trip to Tilley Farm in the UK, the home of Animal Centered Education and the wonderful Sarah Fisher. This was an incredible opportunity for me to practice my observation skills and I am thrilled to say that I have completed Module 2 with flying colours. I am better equipped to identify any pain or discomfort that your dog may be experiencing which in turn can have an effect on their behaviour.

Freework allows dogs to explore different textures, surfaces, smells and all the other senses.

Sniffing, chewing and licking are the best calming and destressers for dogs. Freework includes all of these elements in a safe environment. These low-impact activities have an emphasis on mental stimulation.

As pain is the reason for up to 85% of behavioural issues in dogs it is essential that we know if your dog is experiencing any pain or discomfort. It must be stressed, that I am not a Veterinarian and I do not diagnose anything, I am just able to spot any unusual body positions or coat changes in your dogs so that you can then take them to get medical advice.

Freework is beneficial for all dogs, and we offer specific programs for puppies, teenage dogs, senior dogs and reactive dogs.

Probably the most important benefit to Freework is the improved bond between you and your dog.

Freework sessions can be as short as 30 minutes and will fulfil your dog’s needs for the day. So if you have a busy lifestyle and not much time for exercising and mentally stimulating your furry family member then Freework is your answer.

Teenage Dog Freework Programs

Skills to grow into healthy adulthood.

Did you know that the average age for a dog to be surrendered to a shelter is at 9 months? This is due to the fact that they are going through their adolescent period. Dogs between 9 months to anywhere up to 2 years are teenagers. They are experiencing growing pains, their brains are still to be fully formed and the hormones are raging. They certainly seem to be pushing the boundaries at this stage of life. Freework supports these dogs to reach self-regulation, to be calmer and easier to live with.
